More pretty fall pictures

A sunny fall day.

The tree right in front of my house that mesmerizes me every time I leave the house. The colors are so beautiful!

Georgetown at sunset. The lighting is always so beautiful right around the time I take the bus home from work.

In the last week of mild fall weather, a walk to work...

When the weather permits, it is actually quite a lovely walk to work from the Foggy Bottom Metro station. Last week was the end of the pleasant fall weather so I took advantage of it, and got in a little morning exercise as well! Here is the virtual tour...
Start out at the intersection of I street and New Hampshire Ave.

Across I st, and straight down New Hampshire

My favorite house on the block.

Charming little row houses along New Hampshire Ave.

Crossing Virginia Ave, straight ahead lies the Watergate complex, then around the bend to the Kennedy Center.

A great shot of the Watergate complex, and its weird dated version "futuristic" architecture.

The Kennedy Center glowing through the trees in the morning sunlight.

Farmer's Market

The farmer's market at Eastern Market on Sunday. There is nothing better than fresh fruits and vegetables. Yum!

National Symphony Orchestra

Last Thursday I went to see the National Symphony Orchestra in one of their first concerts of the fall season. The Orchestra, conducted by Ivan Fischer, performed Beetoven's Symphony No. 6 in F major, Op. 68, and Bartok's "The Wooden Prince." (pardon the poor quality iPhone photos)

The Monuments and Memorials, Part 1

So here they are, those quintessential Washington landmarks, at least the ones that I have seen thus far.
I Spotted the Lincoln Memorial as me and my co-worker got lost driving to work. It looked beautiful in the early morning light. (P.S. this gives you a hint at how early I have to be up for work, which so far has been the only negative part of my job.)

Electronic Superhighway

Electronic Superhighway: Continental U.S., Alaska, Hawaii
-by Nam June Paik

The Washington DC Metro

Imagine riding an escalator that goes down for so long that all you see ahead of you is a black hole. It feels as though you are slowly being sucked into another dimension. The escalator is packed with busy commuters all dressed in fancy business attire who scurry around you in a frenzy of ambitious activity. The escalator goes so far down, and for so long, that you cant decide whether you should attempt to make it go by more quickly by beginning to walk down it as it moves, or just stand still and enjoy the ride into the abyss that is the Washington DC metro station.

From the inside it feels like the inside of space mountain, or the control center of some sciene fiction space craft.

New York, New York

This post (as are most of my recent posts) is quite a bit belated, but still important none-the-less. As this blog is intended to chronicle my life and times during this grand adventure that I am on (that is living in DC and interning at the Kennedy Center), I have decided that I must spend a bit of time playing catch-up before I can get to the new stuff. So here are some much belated pictures from my trip to New York, where I visited my best friend Sara...

My first glimpse of the city, riding in on the bus from DC. Seeing the New York sky-line once again gave me a rush of excitement that is indescribable. How I long to one day settle in this amazing city. If not for ever, than at least for a period of time

The view from the window of Sara's Willamsburg apartment

purple in the morning sunshine.

This apartment had the most adorable archways throughout.

Sara and turquoise walls.

The most glorious couch ever!

I simply cannot wait for my next visit. Hopefully next time it will be more permanent!
