When you dance can you really love?

Moving back to DC, after a fabulous month back home in California with my friends and family, has proven to be more of a challenge then I was expecting. Perhaps, it takes being far away from the people and things that you really care about, in order to truly appreciate them. I just wish it didn't have to be that way. Starting over in a new city can always be challenging, it can be difficult to find your footing; to figure out where you truly fit into this new place. The fact that I am currently unemployed and suffering from troubling state of the nation's economy, hasn't made this transition much easier. I am surprised to say this, but I am learning through this adjustment, that although I often wish for more free time, too much of it can be a curse. The anxious feeling that comes with having too much time on ones hands is slowly starting to creep in, and my mind is filled with nervous thoughts about my life and the future. I know all of these feelings will subside once I start working again, so lets hope that happens soon!

Until then, I'm keeping myself busy by curling up in my cozy bed and listening to Neil Young.  Loving this song right now!

Goodnight!

Skinny Love

Two songs I'm loving right now. Enjoy!

Chez Panisse

Last Thursday was my dad's birthday and we treated him to dinner at Chez Panisse, Berkeley's most delicious restaurant. Chez Panisse was started in 1971 by Alice Waters, and is known for its use of only organic and locally grown ingredients. Here's a peek at what we ate.

Pizzetta with mushrooms and caramelized onions

Mixed green salad

Ricotta ravioli with artichokes
Stracciatella ice cream with chocolate sauce, for the birthday boy

Pink lady apple and wildflower honey tart, with vanilla ice cream and espresso

If you are going to San Francisco...

A beautiful day in the city calls for a walk across the Golden Gate.

Trip to Fresno

Last weekend I took a road trip to Fresno to visit my old college roomie in her hometown. I had a blast exploring the best of fresno; eating well, vintage shopping, listening to good music, and most of all hangin' out with Kelly. It was really wonderful getting to see her, and truly made time home in California extra special.

Downtown Fresno

My favorite.

Kelly in her adorable kitchen. I LOVE those cabinets!

Sweet jumping pictures, courtesy of Kelly's new christmas present (Nikon Digital SLR).

A very belated first blog of 2010

Happy New Year!! It is a new year, a chance for new beginnings, new resolutions, and new adventures. I have made it one of my resolutions to be better about posting to my blog... So, I am beginning the new year by recapping some of the highlights from the end of last year...New Years 2010, Lake Tahoe with friends, and Christmas with the Alef's.

New Years eve with my two favorite people!

We rung in the new year, dancing the night away to Harry and the Hitman (a mowtown cover band) at the Crepe Place in Santa Cruz, CA.

Beautiful Lake Tahoe

Christmas with the Alef's
Flaeskesteg (traditional danish pork roast), with candied new potatoes, red cabbage, pickled cucumber salad, and gravy... My favorite!!
